Beautiful Scars is a short story collection that is dedicated to helping people who suffer from self harm and mental illness.
The name of the collection comes from the notion that People need to know, if they have scars, they are still beautiful. This applies to everybody, regardless of gender identity.
I believe that books, fiction and, knowledge can provide, at the very least, safe escapism and solace. Fiction can also help people looking in understand social effects, complex emotions and the dangers of addictions. Through fiction, writers can explore and explain these concepts by using metaphors and character representations and language features such as analogy and imagery. This has the aim of helping people understand and accept situations and thought patterns that differ from their own.
The collection consists of eight original short stories and all profits go to To Write Love On Her Arms (TWOLHA). It will be available in both ebook and paperback copies with more information such as pricing and retailers to come.
TWLOHA’s mission statement:
To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and, suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recover.
